The B-side…  The term instantly evokes memories of the beloved 45 single and the song tucked away on the far side of the record. From time to time, the B-side would pleasantly surprise you as it matched or surpassed its popular counterpart on side A. And from time to time, a band just as surprising comes along and knocks your socks off with a one-two punch of great rocking blues and unsurpassed delivery. This is that band.  

The B-Siders’ set lists are comprised largely of gems mined from the treasure trove found on the flip side of the 45 record. The band breathes new life into undiscovered, little known tunes, and also energetically reinterprets some old favorites. The killer cocktail that is the B-Siders is comprised of equal parts dynamism, showmanship and pure fun.  

The core of the B-Siders is husband and wife team Gerry and Cher Pienicki. Cher (lead vocals) belts it out in the spirit of America’s legendary blues women, making her impression felt with each song. She honed her craft at the feet of the renowned Esther Phillips, learning the time honored traditions of classic soul, blues and gospel music. Over the past three decades, Cher has worked her magic across the country, singing with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Choir and performing with an array of bands.   Her performance at the Cascade Blues

Lead and rhythm guitarist Gerry “Ger” Pienicki is a triple threat: performer, arranger and bandleader. Onstage, his lively guitar work is frequently the element that can keep the best pace with Cher’s vibrant vocals. Regular fans of the B-Siders (affectionately known as “GroupBees”) look to Ger for his signature “guitar chop,” swiping the guitar neck in a downward motion as he precisely cues the end of the song. This veteran axe man has unleashed his guitar licks in bands across the country for more then 35 years.
